Detox and Cleansing Stories
On a personal note, I have done a lot of detoxification over the years, using many programs, as they became appropriate. Since I've been at this game for 37 years, that adds up to a lot of cleaning out.
I remember the first time I heard about fasting. (Of course, the idea of not eating anything for a while was a very foreign idea to an American kid in the 1970s.) I was 19 years old, and up for just about anything. I ate no food, and just drank tea (the original Yogi Tea, at that, even then) all day. By the nighttime I was praying for the clock to speed up so I could go to bed and get the pain in my head and body to stop. Wrong treatment, wrong time, but a good lesson in the power of detoxification.
The most recent fast I accomplished, 30 plus years later, was 6 weeks on lemon water. Worked the whole time, felt great. Remember, this was after decades of experience with detox diets. It's important to work up to any program this potent. Despite Beyonce, and her promotion of this diet, use caution.
I think you all must have interesting insights to share. Please tell us about your detox and cleansing experiences, so we can all learn from each other.

Just remember to start very slowly. A good beginning is to pick one day, and just go for that one day at first.
Perhaps eat only steamed vegetables for that one day. Then again on a different day with just fruit.
Work up to a day of just tea.
If all OK, extend the length.
My book, Body Balance, has some good info on this process.

Thanks for the great advice. I will look for your book. If I do a day of just veggies, is there a difference is doing steamed or raw? I ask because I enjoy raw more than steamed. =)
Raw vegetables are more detoxifying than steamed. Most people tolerate them fine. They are a little harder to digest, so some folks get gas from a lot of ‘em.

I have always wanted to do a fast but always abit too afraid. I think this post might be a sign for me to start researching more. I saw a comment left about Yogi Detox tea and will give that a try while fasting. =)
