Herbs work. They are effective and dynamic, and you can feel their effects. I see it every day, and I’d like you to feel it. But how to get started?

In Ayurveda, herbs are the primary medicines. I’d like to introduce you to ten of the best, and I’ll dive deeper into these over time.

Turmeric. This is my favorite herb. It’s often used as a kitchen spice, but it is a remarkable standby herb in Asia. The active ingredient in turmeric, curcumin, helps reduce inflammation and support healthy digestion.

Amla Fruit   Amla, Bibitaki, Haritaki. These three dried fruits, blended together, comprise the formula triphala. The “three fruits” blend supports healthy liver function and digestion, as well as to promote good circulation.

Long pepper. This warming, moisturizing peppercorn is helps cleanse tissues.

Bacopa. This plant is supports healthy nerve tissue and is also used to promote cognition and alertness.

Licorice Root 1    Licorice. A sweet root, licorice is used to soothe digestive upset and to support increased stamina.

Fennel. The tasty seed of fennel is helps soothe intestinal gas.

Senna. The leaf of the senna tree is world renowned for aiding in constipation relief.

Shankpushpi. Another nerve remedy, shankpushpi helps to relax you and promote sleep.

Ayurveda is a treasure trove of herbal powerhouses. Have you had success with any of these, or others you’d like to mention? In the near future, I’ll talk about these in more detail, and introduce many other outstanding herbal choices.
