Dong quai

Dong quai root

@Marianne- good to hear you are enjoying Woman's Energy herbal tea. The main herb in this tea is dong quai, which is probably the most consumed herb in the world, says herbalist Christopher Hobbs, because it is the major herb used by women in Asia. Around half a billion women in China alone, as well as millions in other Asian countries, especially Japan, take dong quai daily to support their reproductive organs.

Dong quai root, spelled also "Tang Kuei" or "Dong Gui", means "Return to proper order" in Chinese. An Asian woman might cook an extra bit of dong quai into soup or rice dishes on a daily basis for several days. After all, it's a close relative of the common carrot.

Dong quai is a sweet and pungent blood tonic that is mildly warming.
