Guru Hari’s Favorite Warm Weather Teas & Tips to Help You Beat the Heat
One of my favorite Yogi teas in the Spring and Summer is Lemon Ginger. Spicy, fruity, lemony and bright, it fits in well with the fresh fruits and flavors this time of year. While Ginger teas are traditionally enjoyed in the Winter to help promote warmth and support circulation and digestion, they are also great in the warmer months.
In the Spring and Summer, this warming herb can help open circulation and perspiration, clearing the body’s channels, supporting the skin so it can function to help keep the body cool. Our intriguing combination of ginger, licorice, lemongrass and peppermint acts as a mild cleanser to the internal tissues and can support overall circulation to allow the blood, nutrients and energy to flow freely. Lemongrass and Peppermint Leaf are also cooling herbs, and can help to balance the heat of ginger root.
My favorite way to enjoy our Lemon Ginger tea during the warmer months is to brew the tea and let it cool to room temperature. Then, I add my favorite fruit juice combinations, including Raspberry, Lemonade, Strawberry or Boysenberry. Served plain or enjoyed over ice with a sprig of mint, these concoctions are delightful, refreshing and carry all of the benefits of the tea.
For a twist and a little extra spice, our traditional Ginger tea is also a delicious summer treat, enjoyable on its own, with mint, or with a splash of fresh fruit juice.
