Feeling stressed? Lavender and Kava to the Rescue!
Feeling a little edgy today? Probably no surprise. We live in a worried world. It seems like the pace of life intensifies every day, and everyone around is more and more frantic. If you’re like a lot of us, the result is some pretty serious stress.
Some people have persistent, excessive, and unrealistic worry about everyday things, and expect the worst when there is no reason for concern. Unrelenting health, money, or work concerns can obstruct just about all areas of a person’s life.
One way to think about stress is that it is an internal response to external experiences. It is the way we receive and process our external experience within our beings. But what to do?
Lavender tea is a time honored way to take the edge off. Just the sight of the lovely purple lavender blossom might curb stress all by itself. A group of, we suspect, very relaxed British scientists tested lavender for people’s mood and mental sharpness and found it to be calming. Korean researchers found that the purple plant can help with pain and to improve mood.
And let’s not forget kava, that oh-so-mellow herb from the most relaxed place on Earth, the South Sea Islands. Australian scientists recently reviewed the kava science and reported that the root was proven to help people to have a better mood and a calming effect on their temperament. Just like the laid-back folks in the South Seas, you can enjoy the soothing effects of kava tea and soon be feeling like your lazing on a warm, sandy beach.
